Data We Collect
FileSnap collects no personal information — its privacy manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy) declares no tracking and no collected data types, and its App Store privacy label will state the same: the developer does not collect any data from this app. The app reads only statistical metadata — paths, types, sizes, modification times — inside folders you explicitly grant access to, in order to build snapshots and comparison reports. Snapshots are stored solely in the app's container on your Mac (Application Support/FileSnap/snapshots.sqlite); file contents are never read, copied, or uploaded. The app requests no network access, runs no developer servers, and includes no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
Permissions: folder access is granted by you through the system folder picker, persisted as security-scoped bookmarks and strictly read-only; user-selected file read/write access is used only when you export a CSV report and choose where to save it — the scanner has no code path that deletes or modifies your original files. The file timestamp API is declared in the privacy manifest as required by Apple (reasons 3B52.1 and C617.1) and is used only to read file metadata inside authorised folders and manage the app's own local storage. Pro membership purchases, restorations, and status checks go through Apple's StoreKit; the app never collects or stores payment details, and purchase state is kept on this Mac only.
How We Use Information
Any information described above is used only to keep the app working properly, respond to your support requests, troubleshoot and fix issues, and improve the product. We never use it for any other purpose, never for advertising or profiling, and we never sell it to anyone.
Data Storage & Security
FileSnap is designed around data minimisation: your data stays on your device by default (or syncs, at your option, to a cloud account you control), and our servers do not store your data. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information received through support channels from unauthorised access — though no system can promise absolute security.
Third-Party Services
This app integrates no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We never collect or store your payment details — purchases are processed by Apple.
Retention & Deletion of Support Inquiries
When you contact us by email or similar means, we receive the information you provide (such as your email address and a description of the issue). We keep it only as long as needed to handle your request; you may ask us to delete it at any time.
Your Rights
Under applicable laws and regulations (including the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China), you have the following rights:
- Access & correction — view and edit your content and settings in the app at any time;
- Deletion — uninstalling the app removes data inside the app container; content you exported to a folder of your choice or elsewhere is not deleted automatically and can be managed in its location; if you enabled cloud sync, you can also delete data in the corresponding cloud service;
- Withdrawing consent — you can revoke permissions anytime in system settings; revocation does not affect data already stored locally;
- Account deletion — not applicable: the app requires no account.
Protection of Minors
FileSnap is a general-audience app. We never knowingly collect personal information or market to minors. Under the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China (PIPL), personal information of minors under 14 is sensitive personal information and may only be processed with a guardian's consent. If you are under 14, please read this policy with a guardian and use the app only with their consent. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a minor under 14 without guardian consent, we will delete it as soon as possible.
Updates to This Policy
This policy may change as the app evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app or on this page with a new effective date. Continued use means you accept the updated policy.
Governing Law
This policy is governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China and applies to all supported platform versions of FileSnap.
