StudyEn

开发中 v1.0.0

A 12-month English plan for working beginners: intensive listening, shadowing, and spaced repetition

What it is

StudyEn is an English study planner for working professionals starting from zero: it breaks the goal of “following real meetings and saying the key lines” into 12 monthly milestones and gives you a 30-minute task list every day — a speaking set in the evening, a listening set on the commute. Import your own course materials for intensive listening, back it up with spaced repetition, and watch your progress take shape.

There are no accounts and no in-app purchases, and the app itself makes no network requests: your records live on your device, and when iCloud Backup is enabled, iOS automatically backs them up to your own iCloud account.

Who it’s for

  • Working professionals who can’t avoid English at work but have a weak foundation — meetings feel like noise, and the right sentence never comes out
  • People who bought plenty of courses but never stick with them — what’s missing is a clear daily task and visible progress
  • Anyone who’d rather not hand their learning data to a company’s servers — StudyEn has none; your data lives on your device and in your own iCloud backup

Core features

  • Daily tasks: each day’s 30 minutes split into an evening speaking set and a commute listening set, with check-offs; on packed days it automatically drops to a 10-minute fallback so the streak survives
  • Course library: import audio and subtitles (LRC / SRT / VTT / TXT) from the Files app — one folder is one course, scanned and paired automatically, and your original files are never touched
  • Intensive listening player: sentence-by-sentence playback, bilingual subtitles, tap-to-look-up, 0.5–2.0× speed, single-sentence and A-B loops, plus a signpost-word mode and a listen-and-read mode
  • Spaced repetition: SM-2 queues word, chunk, and sentence cards automatically with again / hard / good / easy ratings; due cards show up right on time
  • Pronunciation drills: 18 minimal-pair sets (sheep / ship and friends) and 10 liaison sets (wanna / gonna and friends), learn-then-test; a 44-phoneme chart with example words
  • Shadowing and spoken diary: record yourself and compare with the original; a few spoken diary sentences a day turn “speaking up” into a habit
  • Visible progress: the stage plan laid out on a calendar, streaks, a 14-day study-minutes trend, and milestone self-tests with history

Why it was built

The most real-world need in workplace English isn’t fluency — it’s first following the gist of a meeting, then getting that one key sentence out. Most study apps start from vocabulary lists, far away from real work; and good courses, once bought, often lack a plan that says what exactly to study today.

StudyEn stitches the two together: your own course materials become the intensive-listening source, a 12-month milestone plan turns them into an executable 30 minutes a day, and spaced repetition makes sure what you studied actually sticks. Running no servers is a bottom-line decision — learning records are among the most personal data there is, and they should belong to the learner alone.

Data safety
StudyEn has no servers: data lives on your device, and with iCloud Backup enabled it is backed up automatically by the system to your iCloud account (course audio is not backed up — just re-import it after switching devices). You can also export manually under “Me → Backup”; remember to do so before uninstalling.
