Data We Collect
StudyEn collects no personal information. Your learning progress, imported course files, shadowing recordings, and diary entries live entirely in the app's sandbox on your device — there are no developer servers and nothing for us to read. The app includes no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
Permissions & network: StudyEn itself makes no network requests and integrates no analytics, advertising, or tracking services. Microphone access is requested only when you use the shadowing or spoken-diary features; recordings stay on your device and can be deleted at any time. Notifications are used only for the daily study reminder — a local notification scheduled by the system on your device. Word look-ups use the system dictionary and built-in word lists, and pronunciation uses on-device system speech synthesis; your learning content never leaves the device. About backups: when your device is signed in to an Apple ID with iCloud Backup enabled, iOS automatically backs up your learning state and spoken-diary recordings to your own iCloud account — the backup is performed by the system, the app cannot read its contents, and the developer has no servers and no way to access it. Course audio and pronunciation caches are excluded from backups (they can be re-imported or regenerated at any time). Whether to use iCloud Backup is your choice in system settings; the app works the same either way.
How We Use Information
Any information described above is used only to keep the app working properly, respond to your support requests, troubleshoot and fix issues, and improve the product. We never use it for any other purpose, never for advertising or profiling, and we never sell it to anyone.
Data Storage & Security
StudyEn is designed around data minimisation: your data stays on your device by default (or syncs, at your option, to a cloud account you control), and our servers do not store your data. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information received through support channels from unauthorised access — though no system can promise absolute security.
Third-Party Services
This app integrates no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We never collect or store your payment details — purchases are processed by Apple.
Retention & Deletion of Support Inquiries
When you contact us by email or similar means, we receive the information you provide (such as your email address and a description of the issue). We keep it only as long as needed to handle your request; you may ask us to delete it at any time.
Your Rights
Under applicable laws and regulations (including the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China), you have the following rights:
- Access & correction — view and edit your content and settings in the app at any time;
- Deletion — deleting the app deletes local data; if you enabled cloud sync, you can also delete it in the corresponding cloud service;
- Withdrawing consent — you can revoke permissions anytime in system settings; revocation does not affect data already stored locally;
- Account deletion — not applicable: the app requires no account.
Protection of Minors
StudyEn is a general-audience app. We never knowingly collect personal information or market to minors. Under the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China (PIPL), personal information of minors under 14 is sensitive personal information and may only be processed with a guardian's consent. If you are under 14, please read this policy with a guardian and use the app only with their consent. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a minor under 14 without guardian consent, we will delete it as soon as possible.
Updates to This Policy
This policy may change as the app evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app or on this page with a new effective date. Continued use means you accept the updated policy.
Governing Law
This policy is governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China and applies to all supported platform versions of StudyEn.

Storage, backup, and deletion
All StudyEn data — learning state, course materials, recordings, and diary entries — lives in the app’s sandbox on your device. The app supports system file access: you can browse and copy the “StudyEn” folder via the iOS Files app, or via Finder (macOS) / Apple Devices (Windows) after connecting your device.
There are two ways to back up your data. ① iCloud device backup (automatic) — when your device is signed in to an Apple ID with iCloud Backup enabled, iOS backs up your learning state and spoken-diary recordings to your own iCloud account; course audio and pronunciation caches are excluded by the app (audio can be re-imported and caches regenerated at any time), so after a restore you only need to re-import your courses. ② In-app manual backup — export a state file under “Me → Backup” and keep it wherever you trust. Backups are performed by iOS or by you; the app initiates no uploads and takes no part in them, and the developer has no way to read your data.
Uninstalling the app deletes the data on your device. Before switching devices, erasing, or reinstalling iOS, make sure iCloud Backup is enabled, or export a manual backup under “Me → Backup” first.
